A little 'Moojen Magic' leads to All MASL team honors for Captain
LAKELAND – For the third straight week, a Florida Tropics SC player has earned All MASL Team honors.
Team Captain and assistant coach Freddy Moojen has been picked for the Week Four All MASL team, following two goals and an assist last Saturday in a 5-4 win over the Baltimore Blast.
His assist came on arguably the biggest goal in the Tropics two-year history, a 55-footer from Lucas Teixeira with just 20 seconds to play to defeat the Blast, who have won the MASL championship each of the past two years. The Tropics win also moved Florida into first place in the MASL eastern division at 3-1, a half-game up on the Blast who fell to 2-1.
Robbie Aristodemo earned honorable mention All MASL team honors as well.
In Week Three, Lucas Montelares earned All MASL team honors, and also was named the league's overall Player of the Week, the first time a Tropics player has been so honored. In week Two, Mauricio Salles earned All team honors following four-goals in two games in a season opening road trip.
The Tropics are idle for the Thanksgiving holiday, but are right back in the thick of divisional play Friday night, Dec. 1, when they host the Syracuse Silver Knights on SYKES Field at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. Kickoff is 7:35 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 863-240-0101, or online at www.fltropics.com.
