AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Tropics SC are back at Lake Myrtle Sports park Friday, May 17, looking to extend their season-opening win streak to eight, but it won't be easy since it's a battle of two first-place teams.

The Tropics are hosting Leg A-Z International, who hold first place in the UPSL Pro Premier Florida Central East division with a 5-1 mark, having a goal differential of a plus eight in their first six games. The Tropics SC are in first in the Pro Premier Florida Central West division with a perfect 7-0-0 mark to date, with a goal differential of +26. Kickoff will be a 7:30 p.m.

Last Sunday, the Tropics took a 3-2 Mother's Day road win over Jacksonville Armada Academy. Victor Parreiras, who just signed a new three-year contract to play with their sister franchise, the Florida Tropics of the Major Arena Soccer League, scored his fourth of the season, while Melvin Boetang and Xavier Silva also found the back of the net. Boetang now has three goals on the season, and Silva four.

The Tropics SC will be back on the road May 26 for a matchup against Huracan FC at the Oldsmar Sports Complex before returning to home to start a final push to the post-season when they host OFC Barca on Wednesday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m.

The Tropics soccer club currently fields two outdoor teams in the summer months, with the goal of creating a larger talent pool for the club's hoped-for move up to the Division III level in the coming seasons. Tropics SC plays at Lake Myrtle in Auburndale in the UPSL, while the Lakeland Tropics are now in their third season of play at historic Bryant Stadium in USL League Two.
