Carbon copy: Tropics SC scores 3-0 playoff win over Sporting Orlando
AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- History repeated itself Wednesday night at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale as the Tropics SC defeated Sporting Orlando 3-0 in a second round United Premier Soccer League Playoff game.
Victor Parreiras got the only goal the Tropics would need, converting a penalty kick in the 10th minute. Corey Mills added a goal in the 67th minute, and Ricardo Diegues added the last tally on a breakaway in stoppage time to secure the victory.
The two teams met at Lake Myrtle during the regular season, with the exact same 3-0 outcome. Not only that, the Tropics goals scorers in that win were Parreiras, Mills and Diegues.
Tropics SC goalkeeper Hugo Silva picked up the clean sheet, his second straight in the playoffs. In 14 games so far this season, the team has allowed just four goals.
Winter Park-based Macca Ballers FC will travel to Lake Myrtle for a third-round playoff game Saturday night. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. For ticket information, visit www.fltropics.com, or call 863-240-0101. The game will also be streamed live at my.cujoo.tv.
