LAKELAND, Fla. – Three Florida Tropics players have earned Week Seven honorable mention All Major Arena Soccer League recognition after a pair of historic road wins last weekend.

Goalkeeper Brett Petricek, and forwards Ricardo Carvalho and Joey Tavernese were cited as the Tropics improved to 7-1 on the season, and stayed in first place in the MASL's Eastern Conference.

Carvalho and Tavernese had five-point games each as Florida rolled past the Rochester Lancers, 17-4. It was the most goals the Tropics ever scored in their four year history in one game, and also represented their largest margin of victory ever. Carvalho had two goals and three assists while Tavernese had four goals and an assist. Carvalho is now the third leading scorer in the MASL so far this year.

Petricek faced 38 shots in the win over Rochester, and was named the game's second star.

A night later, the Tropics scored their first ever win in Baltimore, a 7-6 overtime triumph, when Carvalho scored midway through the extra period. He also assisted on two other goals, and now has 10 goals and 11 assists in 2019-20.

Florida will kick off a three-game homestand this Sunday, Jan. 12 when they host their local rivals, the Orlando SeaWolves. Kickoff is a 3:05 p.m. For tickets, call 863-340-0101, or visit
