Diegues nets four but it's not enough as Tropics fall to St. Louis, 7-6

LAKELAND – The Florida Tropics fell down 3-0 early, rallied to tie the game at 6-6, but couldn't complete the comeback as the St. Louis Ambush took an 7-6 win in a Major Arena Soccer League game at the RP Funding Center Sunday afternoon.

Ricardo Diegues tied a team record for most goals in a game with four. His fourth on a header at 4:02 of the final period tied the game, but St. Louis got the winner on a three-man breakaway finished off by Felipe Silva exactly four minutes later.

Florida, who never had a lead in the game, also got goals from Anthony Arico and Caio Ruiz. St Louis got a pair from Clayton Matheus and additional single markers from J.T. Stinson, Zack Reget and Lucas Almeida.

It was the third time this season the Tropics, 5-13, lost by a single goal to the Ambush, 10-11.St Louis outshot the hosts, 28-16.

Florida will be on the road Friday when they travel to Orlando to take on the SeaWolves and are back home next Sunday, March 17, when they host the Kansas City Comets in another 3:05 start.
