Florida hits the road for pair of weekend divisional games at Syracuse, Baltimore
LAKELAND – The Florida Tropics SC will look for a little pay back Saturday night when they visit the Syracuse Silver Knights, part of a two-games-in-two-nights swing through the chilly northeast this weekend.
Florida will kick off at 6:05 Saturday at the OnCenter War Memorial Arena and then travel to Baltimore, who will be looking for a little pay back of their own, in a 3:05 p.m. matinee Sunday afternoon.
Syracuse erased a 4-2 halftime deficit to defeat Florida 6-5 last Friday in Lakeland. Victor Parraeiras got Florida off to a quick start with two goals in the game's first four minutes, but Kenardo Forbes scored three straight in the second half to key the Silver Knights come back.
Florida recorded its first ever win over the two-time defending Baltimore Blast on Saturday, Nov. 18 with a 6-5 home win when Lucas Teixeira blasted home a 55-footer for the game winner with just 20 seconds to play.
Freddy Moojen leads the Tropics with 10 points (4 goals, six assists), while Mauricio Salles is the team leader in goals with six. Syracuse is paced by Joey Tavernese (7-5-12) and Forbes (7-3-10). Vini Dantas with 11 points (8-3-11) leads the team in goals and overall points as well.
Florida will be back home Friday, Dec. 15, to meet Baltimore in the back-end of a home-and-home series. Kickoff will be 7:35 p.m. The Tropics will remain at home for a Dec. 23 matchup with the Harrisburg Heat. Tickets are available by calling 863-240-0101, or online at www.fltropics.com.
