Florida Tropics SC tentative playoff date at Lakeland Center is March 10
KANSAS CITY (Feb. 22, 2017) – The 2017 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) regular season is quickly coming to an end. The 17 teams who began the season will soon be whittled down to eight as each division qualifies two teams to participate in the postseason and the quest for the Ron Newman Cup.
The MASL postseason consists of three rounds, the Divisional Championships, the Conference Championships and the Ron Newman Cup Championships. Teams in each round will play a home-and-home series. Should the series be tied after the second game, an immediate 15 minute Mini-Game will be played to decide the winner of the series.
While there are a few positions left to fill in the postseason tournament, the MASL has announced dates and schedules for the Divisional Championships. The Southwest and Central Division matchups are set while the Baltimore Blast and the San Diego Sockers await their opponents in the Eastern and Pacific Divisions.
The Tropics and Harrisburg Heat will meet in back-to-back games Friday and Saturday in Harrisburg. If either team sweeps the two games, they would clinch a playoff spot. All the playoff scenarios can be found at www.maslsoccer.com/playoffs. Following is the first-round breakdown:
