Historic performance earns Ricardo Diegues All MASL Team honors

LAKELAND, Fla. -- An historic performance by Florida Tropics forward Ricardo Diegues has earned him a spot on the All MASL Sporturf Team for Week 16.

Diegues banged in five goals in a 12-8 win over Kansas City Sunday at the RP Funding Center, setting a team record for most goals in a game. The team also tied a record for most goals in a game as well.

Diegues had four goal games three times previously in his Tropics career, one of them earlier this month. Despite missing the first month of the season while recovering from sports hernia surgery,  Diegues now has 22 goals in 15 games, including nine goals in Florida's last two home games. His last four-goal game came at home on March 10 against St. Louis.

Diegues had shared the team record with former forward Mauricio Salles. He and Diegues each netted four in a 12-9 win at Harrisburg last season.

The Tropics will be on the road Saturday night for an 8:05 p.m. (EDT) kickoff against the Milwaukee Wave before returning to the RP Funding Center on Saturday, March 30, for a rematch with the Comets.
