Kickers FC will host second game of homestand Sunday; league leading Brandon visits Nov. 4
LAKELAND – The Kickers FC – now an affiliate of the Tropics Soccer Club – will host the FCFC Strikers next Sunday, Oct. 28, the second game in an important four-game home stand in the Florida Suncoast Soccer League Premier Division team.
The team got off to a slow start with a loss and tie in its first two games, but turned it around in October with wins of 7-1 over SPFC Aztecs last weekend, and a 4-2 win over the Florida Mutiny on Oct. 7.
The homestand is highlighted by a visit by Brandon Town FC Premier on Sunday, Nov. 4. Kickoff is at 9 a.m. at Lakeland's Southwest recreation complex on West Highlands Street where the team plays all its home games.
Brandon is perfect 4-0 to start the season, atop the FSSL Premier table with 12 points. The Kickers FC, at 2-1-1 with seven points, sit in a three-way tie for third.
The Kickers FC homestand will conclude with a Nov. 18 visit by South Tampa FC. The regular season runs through the end of April. Last year, the Kickers earned a trip to the national Final Four in Milwaukee in the United States Adult Soccer Association's U.S. Amateur Cup.
Several members of the Major Arena Soccer League's Florida Tropics are suiting up for the Kickers early in the season, including Victor Parreiras who leads the team in goals with three. He finished fourth on the Tropics in both goals and points during the 2017-18 MASL season.
Another Tropics player, Maycon Franca, has two goals. Other Florida Tropics players to suit up so far this fall include Lucas Teixeira, Pedro Ivo Dias, J.P. Reyes, Jowayne Laidley, Alexi Cortez and Lucas Coutinho.
Xavier Silva is tied with Parreiras for the team lead in goals with three. Joining Franca with two goals on the year is Tevin Gage and Keisuke Ohata, while Melvin Boateng and Nick Scott have also scored goals for the Kickers.
The Florida Tropics start their third season the MASL when they host the St. Louis Ambush on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. For more information on the Tropics, including tickets for the home opener, call 863-240-0101 or go to www.fltropics.com.
