LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Tropics will host three of its Major Arena Soccer League foes this weekend in a six-games-in-four-days “Sunshine Series” at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

Tickets will only be available for Florida’s games on Friday, Feb. 19 and Sunday, Feb. 21. Friday’s 7 p.m. start against the San Diego Sockers will be free to view on the league’s facebook page. The remaining games over the weekend will be available via Facebook pay per view at

Because only a few teams in the league are currently able to host regular season games, the Sunshine Series is a way for several teams to get in three games in a short period of time. The same four teams will hook up in a similar event March 10-14 in Ontario, California.

Thursday’s action starts at 3 p.m. as the Tropics host Tacoma, followed by a 7 p.m. start between the Sockers and Fury. Friday, the 3 p.m. match will feature the Stars against the Fury followed by the Tropics vs. San Diego matchup. After a recovery day Saturday, Sunday’s slate has the Stars and Sockers in a 12 noon start followed by the Tropics and Fury meeting at 4 p.m.

The MASL regular season is set to end March 20, with a playoffs to be held after that. A format for the playoffs is still being finalized, with details being announced shortly. Standings for the seven teams competing this season are being based on winning percentage, since teams will not be playing the same number of games. A minimum of 10 games must be played to qualify for the post season according to league rules.

After this weekend, the Tropics will travel to California for a March 10 game against Ontario and a March 11 start against Tacoma to conclude their regular season.
