Newcomer Mauricio Salles already makes his mark, earns All MASL honors
It hasn't take long for Mauricio Salles to make his mark with the Florida Tropics.
The veteran forward scored four goals in two games this pass weekend, including a spectacular bicycle kick goal against the RGV Barracudas, to earn Week Two All MASL team honors. Getting honorable mention commendation were captain Freddy Moojen and Lucas Teixeira.
The team's split in the back-to-back contests, defeating RGV 10-5, and falling to Monterrey, 9-4.
Salles, who played last year for Sonora, helping them to the MASL finals, entered the season with 161 career arena games, scoring 194 goals. He had seven goals in seven games with Sonora in last year's finals against the Baltimore Blast, who won their second straight championship, and who will visit Lakeland on Nov. 18.
