Offense returns as Tropics stay in first place with a 7-1 thrashing of Tampa FC

TAMPA -- The Florida Tropics found their offense in a big way Sunday night to keep a hold on first place in the United Premier Soccer League's Florida West division with a 7-1 win over Tampa FC.

After missing time due to an urgent family matter, star forward Will Eyang -- among the national leaders in goal scoring in the UPSL -- banged in two goals, as did teammate Julian Hall.

Florida, which improved to 4-2-1 on the season, also got goals from Paulos Beraki, Eric Ugarte and Skylar Wilks.

With 13 points, the Tropics are tied for first in the division with the St. Petersburg Aztecs, although St. Pete has played two fewer games, with a mark of 4-0-1. They took a 3-0 win over Florida Premier FC this past weekend. The Aztecs scored twice in the final 10 minutes to forge a 2-2 with the Tropics earlier this year, and the two teams will rematch in St. Petersburg on June 5.

This weekend, Florida will return to their home field at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale to host Florida Premier in a 7 p.m. kickoff. Admission is free; parking is $10 for single-occupant vehicles and $20 for multi-vehicle occupants. For more information, visit the Tropics social media sites, or www.fltropics.com.
