Third outdoor season in UPSL begins this Sunday for Tropics with visit from Tampa FC to Lake Myrtle
AUBURNDALE, Fla. –Just as the Florida Tropics fifth indoor season in the Major Arena Soccer League winds down, the local pro side will start its third outdoor season in the United Premier Soccer League this Sunday at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale.
Ironically, the Tropics are the reigning UPSL Spring Season champions, having won its national title in 2019 in posting a perfect 18-0 record. The Spring 2020 UPSL season was canceled because of the ongoing pandemic.
Once again, Florida will play in the UPSL’s Premier league as part of the seven-team Florida West division, which welcomes two new members in Naples City FC and Florida Premier FC. Returning along with the Tropics are the St. Petersburg FC Aztecs, PSE Conquistadores, Tampa FC and Winter Haven United.
The season debut comes Sunday, March 14 at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex at 6 p.m. when the Tropics host Tampa FC.
Admission to all UPSL games as free for all fans. There is a parking charge of $10 for single-occupant cars and $20 for vehicles with two or more occupants.
Florida will play six games at home with the five remaining home games all on Saturday nights, starting March 27 with a visit from local rival Winter Haven United. The St. Petersburg Aztecs, who knocked the Tropics out of the Fall 2020 playoffs, will visit Lake Myrtle on April 17 followed by an appearance from Florida Premier on May 8. Naples City FC will visit on May 29 at a site to be determined, while the home portion of the regular season schedule concludes on June 12 with a visit to Lake Myrtle by the PSE Conquistadores,
