Three-point game earns Guilherme MASL recognition
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Guilherme's move to the forward position for the Florida Tropics season-opener last weekend proved to be a good call by head coach Clay Roberts.
With scoring stars Ricardo Diegues and Freddy Moojen sidelined with injuries, Guilherme scored a goal and added to assists to lead the Tropics to a 9-4 win over the St. Louis Ambush. He was named as an honorable mention selection for the All MASL Team for week one.
All last season, in 17 games, when Guilherme played defense for the Tropics, he had one goal and two assists. In his native Brazil. however, Guilherme plays a forward position in the country's professional futsal league, so he is no stranger to being up front.
The Tropics will be on the road this weekend, helping the Mississauga MetroStars inaugurate their first season in the MASL with their first home game of the season Saturday afternoon at 3:05 p.m., followed by a Sunday matinee against Utica City FC in a 2:05 start. All Tropics games home and away are broadcast live at www.masl.tv.
Florida wil be back at home Friday, Dec. 14 in a 7:35 start against the Harrisburg Heat. Tickets are available at www.fltropics.com or by calling 863-240-0101
