Tropics blow past Huracan FC, 9-1, to keep sights set on first place in UPSL Florida West division
AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Florida Tropics SC Presented by Bond Clinic had their second straight huge offensive night in defeating Huracan FC, 9-1, un United Prermier Soccer League Florida West action Sunday night in Tampa.
The Tropics improved to 5-1-0 having scored 20 goals in their last two games to remain in second place in the division behind Dragon City FC who is 6-1-0. The two teams will tangle Saturday, Nov. 28 in Sarasota.
Florida led just 2-1 at intermission, but exploded for seven goals in the final 45 minutes. Melvin Boetang led the offensive surge Sunday with three goals, followed by two each from Bruno Henrique (five goals in two games now) and Wendell Albequrque, along with singletons from Alexandre Teixeira and Corey Mills.
The Tropics will close out the month on the road with big road showdowns Nov. 22 against Winter Haven United, before their trip to Sarasota in a battle that is shaping up to be for first place in the division. The game against the United was originally listed for a Saturday date, but the game has been moved to Sunday (Nov. 22) at 4:30 p.m. at the Lake Maude Recreation Complex (7th Street NE, Winter Haven).
The Tropics will play a 12-game fall season and are the defending 2019 Spring UPSL national champions. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the UPSL did not play a spring season this year. Florida will also start its fifth season playing indoors in the Major Arena Soccer League this winter as the defending Eastern Conference champions. Games are played at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
