Tropics give up game winner 10 seconds into OT as Tacoma scores 7-6 comeback win
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Mike Ramos scored 10 seconds into overtime to give the Tacoma Stars a 7-6 win over the Florida Tropics in a Major Arena Soccer League game Thursday afternoon at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
The Tropics were unable to protect a two-goal lead as Vini Dantas got a sixth-attacker goal with just over two minutes to play to tie the see-saw affair. Dantas, Ramos and Nick Perera eeach had two goals for Tacoma, which improved to 2-2 on the season. Jamael Cox got the other Tacoma score.
Florida led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Ian Bennett and Nate Bourdeau. Bennett finished with two goals on the night to lift his league-leading goals total to 15. The Tropics, who fell to 7-2 overall, also got goals from Joshio Sandoval, Jake Schindler and Zach RegetĀ
Tacoma's OT winner was the only time the Stars led in the entire game. Florida is now 4-5 lifetime in overtime contests, 1-2 at home.
The Tropics will turn around and host the San Diego Sockers Friday night in a 7:05 p.m. start. Tickets are available on the team's Facebook page, or at the arena box office prior to kickoff.
