Tropics heading to Lonestar State with matches against Dallas and Mesquite
DALLAS, Texas –The Florida Tropics will look to continue to re-write their records book as they take on the Dallas Sidekicks and Mesquite Outlaws in Texas this weekend, looking to stay atop the Major Arena Soccer League's Eastern Conference.
Florida will look to set team record on Friday in Dallas in an 7:35 (CST) kickoff against the Sidekicks. A win would be a team-record sixth straight, after opening the season with five consecutive triumphs.
Saturday, Mesquite and legendary indoor soccer star turned Coach Tatu, will host the Tropics in a 7:05 (CST) start.
Florida at 10-1 and two games clear of their nearest pursuers, has scored the most goals (91) and given up the fewest goals (39) among all the eastern conference teams. The 39 goals allowed is the fewest so far in the MASL this season.
Ricardo Carvalho paces the Tropics offense with 14 goals and 16 assists, tied for second in overall points in the league. Hugo Silva as the league's top goals against average at 3.42.
Dallas, 2-9, is led by Arthur Ivo with 10 goals, while Mesquite's Jamie Lovegrove paces the Outlaws, 4-8, with 11 goals and four assists. Both teams play in the MASL Western Conference. Former Tropics captain Freddy Moojen has seven goals in eight games for Dallas this year, his second time around with the Sidekicks.
After the Texas swing, Florida will host San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
