Tropics hit the road in UPSL Round of 16 for playoff matchup against Miami Beach CF

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Florida Tropics will now have to become road warriors in the United Premier Soccer League playoffs as they advance to the Round of 16 Saturday night in Miami.

Florida -- the defending UPSL national spring champions, having won that crown in 2019 with an 18-0-0 record -- will meet Miami Beach CF in a 6 p.m. start Saturday. The winner will advance to the UPSL national quarterfinals, where the  Southeastern regional champion will be crowned next weekend in Augusta, Ga. The national finals are Aug. 6 and 8 in Los Angeles.

The Tropics started defense of their title on the road with a 2-1 win over Florida Premier in Naples, but returned to Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale for its next two playoff games, taking care of the PSE Conquistadores and GOSA Spurs.

Florida comes in with a mark of 11-2-2, while Miami was 10-3 in the regular season, finishing second in the Florida South division. 

Florida's offense continues to click, with 49 goals so far this year, fourth best in the UPSL. Will Eyang continues to be among the league leaders in goals, tied for second place in the country with 17.

The Tropics have not been beaten since a  loss on the road to the Conquistadores back on April 24, the team's fourth game of the regular season.
