Tropics look to end road woes with trip to St. Louis Sunday

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Tropics SC will look to snap a 10-game road losing streak when they travel to take on the St. Louis Ambush Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Family Arena. Kick off is at 3:05 CST, and the game will be broadcast live at www.masl.tv.

The Tropics nearly broke that streak Feb. 1 in a 5-4 loss against the Ambush. There closest brush came in Kansas City a few weeks ago when the Comets scored with 2.5 seconds to play to also take a 5-4 decision.

The Tropics continue to be shorthanded because of injuries with leading scorer Guilherme once again out, along with the team's top two defenders Lucas Teixeira and Lucas Montelares. Back this weekend after a long injury absence is rookie Enzo Marangoni.

Former St. Louis Ambush forward Antonio Manfut continues to shine, as does Andre Braitwaite, both obtained in trades a month ago. Manfut has six goals in six games, and Braitwaite seven in those same games. Victor Parreiras is the team leading active scorer with 11 goals and eight assists.

Newcomers continue to set the pace for St. Louis with Zach Reget leading in goals with 16 and J.T. Stinson in points with 14 goals and 8 assists.

Both clubs will look for an improved defensive effort. Florida has given up 111 goals so far this year, St. Louis 109. Only Mississauga, El Paso and Turlock have given up more goals this season.

The Tropics will stay on the road next weekend with a visit to Orlando to take on the SeaWolves March 2 before returning to meet the Kansas City Comets at home March 10.
