Tropics SC one win away from state title, trip to UPSL Pro Premier national playoffs
AUBURNDALE -- The Tropics SC rousing success in their first season of United Premier SOccer League play continued Saturday night with a 3-1 win over the Macca Ballers FC to advance to the state finals for UPSL Pro Premier teams.
The Tropics will host the championship game next Saturday, July 6, at 7 p.m. playing against the winner of Boca Raton FC vs. Hialeah City FC who will play Sunday at 6 p.m.
Andrew Clare finished off a Victor Parreiras corner kick late in the first half to give the Tropics a 1-0 lead at intermission. Macca Ballers tied it in the 51st minute, but five minutes later, Parreiras burried a direct kick from about 22 yards out for the winner. Ricardo Diegues came off the bench for a second straight playoff game to add an insurance goal in stoppage time for the 3-1 win,
The Tropics improved to 14-0-0 on the season, and have outscored their opponents collectively 43-5.
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the national quarterfinal round which will be played July 19-21, with those winners advancing to the national Final F our July 27 and 28 in Dallas-Fort Worth.
