Tropics power past St. Petersburg Aztecs, 6-0 to stay perfect in UPSL debut season
AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Tropics SC continued their strong debut in the United Premier Soccer League by powering past the St. Petersburg FC Aztecs 6-0 Wednesday night at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, improving to 3-0 on the season.
The script was remarkably similar to the team's home opener on April 12. On Wednesday, the Tropics SC roared to a 4-0 halftime lead on two goals by Ricardo Diegues, giving him five on the season, and single goals by Melvin Boetang and Kaisuke Ohata. The Tropics led their home opener by the same score, and with the exact same goal scorers.
Like the opener, Xavier Silva added a second half goal against the Aztecs, and Corey Mills also found the back of the net in the second half for the 6-0 final.
It was also the team's third straight shutout, with Hugo Silva getting his second solo clean sheet. He and backup Jorge Navarette combined on the blanking on April 12.
The Tropics will have a first-place showdown with Sporting Orlando next Tuesday at Lake Myrtle, the third game in a current five-game homestand. The game will be streamed live at www.mycujoo.com. For more information, go to www.fltropics.com.
