Tropics SC take UPSL state title with 3-1 triumph over Boca Raton
AUBURNDALE -- Next stop, Savannah, Georgia, and the UPSL national playoffs.
The Tropics SC got two first half goals from Victor Parreiras, and for the third straight playoff game, a third insurance goal from Ricardo Diegues, to score a 3-1 win over Boca Raton FC Saturday night at a rainy Lake Myrtle Sports Complex.
Parreiras has also scored in each of the Tropics playoffs wins this year. He and Diegues are the all-time leading scorers for the Major Arena Soccer League Florida Tropics, and the pair lead the team in scoring in this year's post-season. Parreiras leads the team with four playoff goals and Diegues three in three games since rejoining the team.
The Tropics will advance to the UPSL quarterfinal playoff round nationally, with a game against Maryland based World Class Premier Elite Saturday, July 13 in Savannah. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium, home of the Savannah Clovers, is 6:30 p.m. The winner of the game will travel to Dallas-Fort Worth the final weekend in July for the national Final Four.
