Tropics will make first of three late-season visits to Orlando to take on SeaWolves Saturday

LAKELAND – Is this the weekend the Florida Tropics SC get their first road win of the season?

The club is inching ever closer to that elusive first “W” away from the RP Funding Center. On Feb. 2, the Tropics saw the Kansas City Comets score the game winner with just 2.5 seconds to play, and last weekend, the Tropics took St. Louis to overtime before losing 10-9.

The Tropics will pay the first of three visits to Orlando Saturday night to take on the SeaWolves in a 7:05 p.m. start.

Overall, Florida has lost its last five straight, and are 0-8 away from home, as the team's roster continues to be ravaged by injuries to key players, including leading scorer Guilherme (15 goals)  who was injured Jan. 26, and the team's two top defenders in Lucas Teixeira (out since December 22) and Lucas Montelares (out since Jan. 19). All three will again miss this weekend's game.

The Tropics have gotten stellar performances from two newcomers. Andre Braitwaite, acquired in mid January in a trade for Freddy Moojen with Utica, has 10 goals in seven games. Antonio Manfut, acquired from St. Louis at the same time in a trade for Jowayne Laidley, has seven goals in seven games. Victor Parreiras continues to be the team's active leading points getter with 12 goals and seven assists.

Orlando is led by veteran Gordy Gurson who has 19 goals and 14 assists.

The game will be broadcast live at www.masl.tv. Florida will be back at home on Sunday, March 10, when they meet the St. Louis Ambush in a 3:05 p.m. start. For more information, visit www.fltropics.com.
