Tropics will salute veterans, first responders at Nov. 11 home opener

by Brian Ackley

The Nov. 11 home opener for the Florida Tropics SC will be more than just about soccer.

The team will honor all active and retired military that night -- Veteran's Day -- as well as all first responders for their heroic efforts during Hurricane Irma which hit Polk County hard, with up to four free tickets for the Saturday night game against the Cedar Rapids Rampage.

This is the Tropics second season in the Major Arena Soccer League, and the first of 11 home games this year. As an expansion team last year, Florida was alive for a playoff berth right down to the end of the regular season, and is aiming for bigger things this year.

Returning are the team's most popular players and prolific scorers -- Captain and Assistant Coach Freddy Moojen, Ricardo Diegues and Victor Parreiras -- while Coach Clay Roberts fortified the rosters with former Orlando City MVP netminder Miguel Gallardo and forward Mauricio Salles, who has almost 200 career goals in arena soccer.

To claim tickets, please call the Tropics front office at 863-240-0101 or fill out the form BY CLICKING HERE.

Florida will start the regular season on the road, with the season opener Nov. 4 at the RGV Barracudas, followed by a game Nov. 5 at Monterrey. Both games, and all Tropics and MASL games are broadcast live at www.masl.tv.
