Tropics will welcome St. Louis to Lakeland for Saturday Star Wars showdown

LAKELAND, Fla. –  The Florida Tropics, with the second best record in the Major Arena Soccer League at 9-1, will host the St. Louis Ambush Saturday at the RP Funding Center. Kickoff is a 5:05 p.m.

St. Louis leads the all-time series, 6-5, and this is the first of two visits to Lakeland by the Ambush this year. 

The Tropics, two games clear of three teams in the MASL Eastern Conference, continue to be led by Ricardo Carvalho, who has 13 goals and 16 assists. His 29 total points are second best in the MASL, and his 16 assists is tops in the league heading into this weekend's action. Goalkeepers Brett Petricek and Hugo Silva are one-two in goals against average.

St. Louis, 5-6, has won all five of its games by just one goal, with three coming in overtime. They are led by Tony Walls with 14 goals and five assists.

The Tropics will wear special Star Wars inspired jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game with proceeds to benefit TOPS soccer for disabled youth players.
