UPSL Outdoor Tropics will play third straight road game Thursday in Clearwater against Chargers

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Florida Tropics outdoor team will play its third straight United Premier Soccer League road game Thursday night in Clearwater, looking for its first win of the season.

The Tropics come in at 0-1-1, following a 4-2 loss to Florida Premier FC this past weekend. Chandler Crawshaw and Rigoberto Juarado had the goals for Florida, who is opening the UPSL season with three straight away games.

The Tropics, who advanced to the UPSL National Final Four last spring, will conclude their opening month with another road contest Thursday in Clearwater against the Chargers. Game time is 8 p.m. at the Countryside Sports Complex at 3060 North McMullen Booth Road.

The Tropics will then come home for four straight home games at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale starting Sunday, May 1, when they host Florida Premier FC in a 6 p.m. start. They will then play at home for the next three consecutive weekends starting with a visit by the Azzurri Srom (May 7), Naples City FC (May 15, 6 p.m.) and Leg A-Z International (May 21). Saturday night home games kickoff at 7 p.m.

Currently Leg A-Z International sits atop the eight-team UPSL Florida West Premier division with a 4-0 mark (12 points). They are followed by the St. Petersburg Aztecs (2-0-1, 7 points), Florida Premier (2-0, 6 points), Lakeland United (1-1-1, 4 points), Clearwater Chargers (1-3-0, 3 points), Naples City (1-2-0, 3 points), the Tropics (0-1-1, 1 point) and the Azzurri Storm (0-4-1, 1 point).
