UPSL Tropics hope to build on big opening win with trip to take on Florida Premier Saturday
AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Following an impressive season-opening win, the Florida Tropics look to continue its strong start to the United Premier Soccer League Spring 2021 season when they travel to Tarpon Springs Saturday.
Florida rolled to a 7-1 win on March 14 when they hosted Tampa FC, getting three goals from William Eyang and a pair from Melvin Boateng. Florida is the defending UPSL Spring national champions, having won that title with an 18-0 season in 2019. Because of the ongoing national pandemic, the UPSL did not play a spring season in 2020.
Saturday’s kickoff against Florida Premier FC is set for 7 p.m. at the Tarpon Springs Sports complex. The game is tentatively expected to be streamed live on the team’s YouTube channel.
The Tropics , who play in the UPSL’s Premier Florida West division in the Southeastern Conference, will be home the following Saturday, March 27, when they take on Polk County rival Winter Haven United in another 7 p.m. start. That game will be at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex.
Admission to all home games at Lake Myrtle is free. There is a $10 parking charge for single-occupant vehicles and $20 for vehicles with two or more persons.
The Tropics field teams in both the UPSL and Major Arena Soccer League, with both the indoor and outdoor seasons presently overlapping each other. The MASL Tropics recently cliched its first regular season indoor soccer title, and will advance to the league’s semi-finals the first weekend of April in Kansas City against an opponent that is still to be determined. The MASL finals will be held over the second weekend of April in St. Louis.
